Identification Challenge #10

I was able to identify this to species and determine the sex. Can you? Luckily there’s lots of online resources for this family. Comments will be held in moderation and I plan to reveal the answer sometime this weekend.

  1. Hmmm… looks just like this photo of a female Phiale guttata, but that source gives the distribution of that species (and the entire genus) only as far north as Panama. Either a good look alike or a hecka range extension.

      Yep, that’s what I determined as well. Your link was lost, by the way. I suspect it might be one of the ones I mentioned in the reveal though.
